Researcher Development

Researcher Development Programme

A full list of training offered to postgraduate students can be found below or via the Doctoral School Eventbrite page.

Our researcher development programme provides students with the opportunity to build on knowledge and expand skills through the delivery of both formal and informal training. Each workshop, delivered by one of our skilled facilitators, covers a key aspect of study or research in order to provide you with the necessary skills to achieve success in the academic community during your study and beyond.

Training Needs Analysis (TDNA)

As part of your research programme of study you are required to complete a Training and Development Needs Analysis. This is done in conjunction with your supervisor(s) and will help you to identify various activities you can undertake to support your research and career development.

During your study your supervisor(s) will help you to complete a TDNA form, enabling you to assess your training needs in relation to a broad range of professional skills, and allowing you to record your progress and achievements in all areas of your student experience. It is essential that you keep up to date and accurate records so that you get the maximum benefit from your programme.
